Babysitter

Ok...last night was really the first time Aja and I have gone out since Aiden was born. I'm not really a bow tie guy (I usually wear a neck tie w/ the tux), but I wanted to switch it up. I couldn't figure out how to tie it with the aid of youtube so Aja helped me getter done (appreciate that lil mama and I can't believe you had a baby 3 months ago...you looked great babe). It was a formal Christmas party at the InterContinental Buckhead and we had a good time (We were jammin' doing the Cuban Shuffle..ha ha).

Well we left our beloved Prince Aiden in the care of his Grannah (aka Grandmother). We come home and see her and Grandfather Coach Jesse chillin' on the couch watching TV. No sign of Aiden...wth?

Me: Where is Aiden (concerned)?
Granna: He's in his crib sleep.

WHAT THE HAY!!!! In his crib???????.....he's never been in his bassinet much less the crib! We rushed upstairs and sure enough baby boy was knocked out. I have to admit...I used to joke to Aja about Aiden being in the bed..... but I've actually grown quite fond of having him next to us. It's comforting.....So I don't know about this crib stuff. The only good thing about the situation was I was able to test out some technology: my baby cam (the one thing I requested on the registry) which worked perfectly.

We're going to have to lay some ground rules next time we get a baby sitter because that was unaccptable behavior...ha ha.

Happy Birthday to Me!

December 20th, I came into this world at 11:45 PM (maybe that's why "I'm addicted to the dark side"). Naturally, the picture above is my mother and I. Anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about my Mother. Her unconditional love showed me what love is really about. I'm blessed to have the best mother in the world. It sucks that we don't live in the same city. I can't wait to see her next week.....Tonight I'll be kickin' it with the fam.
Sagittarius

The Good:
Generally quite easygoing, Sagittarians make friends with people from all walks of life. They love to laugh and tease, and get along well with both sexes. These are curious people who love to learn. Their minds are constantly open to new dimensions of thought with a strong sense of morality. Their idealistic nature is hard to miss. If their marriages are successful, they will be faithful spouses and indulgent parents (versatile, benevolent, ardent, sincere, philosophical, masculine, enthusiastic, broad-minded, sexual, free-spirited, honest, truth-seeking, just, athletic, adventurous, reliable, seldom betraying any trust given to them)

The Bad: Sagittarians have an often blind faith in people, and in the world and are generally strong-willed. They are seekers of the truth and will go anywhere and talk to anyone for answers to their questions. Knowledge and wisdom drive them and provide the energy for their liberal approach to life. Sagittarians are drawn to the philosophical and spiritual because these subjects provide answers to the questions that burn inside them. Their optimism is infectious, although it can get them into trouble from time to time. They hate being doubted. They are usually modest, however, like it when others agree with their well-thought-out point of view. (straightforward, possessive, over-indulgent, tactless, aggressive, rebellious)

The Ugly: Although generally easygoing, Sagittarius is a fire sign. They are generally quick tempered. Fortunately, they're usually as quick to forget what got them angry in the first place. Sometimes they are so confident their deductions are beyond dispute they become dogmatic and argumentative. They are also a charming lot who can be self-indulgent procrastinators. (stubborn, impatient, overly-optimistic, impulsively angry, quick-tempered, perfectionist/obsessive-compulsive)

Bad Law: Death Penalty

The Brian Nichols verdict (of life in prison with no possibility of parole) has added legs to a horrible proposed GA law that will allow a (flawed) judge to be able to overrule the jury and impose the death sentence if he/she deems necessary (when the verdict is not unanimous). The current law requires a unanimous decision for the death sentence. In GA, the smallest of crimes require a unanimous decision so it only makes sense that it would be required for the death sentence considering someone's life is on the line.

I'm against the death penalty because the argument for it is a fallacy. The system has proven occasion after occasion to be WRONG. Modern DNA technology has proven that numerous people have wrongly been sentenced to death...dead...never to be reversed, gone...The argument only has validity if the system is correct 100% of the time considering the punishment is DEATH. Until it can be proven that convictions of the death penalty are 100% correct, the death penalty should be illegal. That is simple logic.

The law now requires a unanimous sentence from a 12-person jury for death penalties, but legislators say there’s new momentum behind a plan that would allow a judge to impose capital punishment even when a few jurors vote against it.

“There ought to be a safety valve here,” said state Rep. Barry Fleming, who led two failed bids to change the death penalty rules. “A way to not make death penalty an automatic, but give the judge the option.”

Maegan Reichert - Professional Rodeo Girl

After graduating third in her class at Chapel Hill High School in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, young Maegan Reichert set off on the professional rodeo trail with her mother. She had two scholarships on the table, one for rodeo, the other for academics. Described as a classic overachiever, Maegan is an upcoming rodeo star and is successful in the classroom.

The young Texan from Mount Pleasant won 2nd place in the 2008 National Finals Rodeo, all while going to college full time. The National Finals Rodeo is the highest level of competition in rodeo, like the World Series in baseball or the Super Bowl in football.

The health and kinesiology major maintained a 3.72 grade point average and aced her other finals—the National Finals—with 10 clean runs, but admitted it sometimes got tough to keep it all together. "When I’m at the airport I’m studying, and when I’m on the plane I’m either studying or sleeping," she said last fall.

Big Tex Trailers helped her with the juggling act by flying her on the company plane when she wasn’t on a commercial flight (her mother, Denise, drove her horses). Reichert, who wants to work in physical therapy or cardiac rehabilitation, will continue on to graduate school after earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas in Tyler in 2009. “It’s a career for me now. I like to do it,” Reichert added. “It is complicated and you have to work to win so it’s not a walk in the park. But I like to be challenged, and it’s exciting too. I have been able to see the U.S. and some of Canada by being a part of rodeo and traveling.” (while earning great money)

Her future plans include attending graduate school, but for now the 21-year-old will continue riding high in both rodeos and academics.

“I will keep on being involved in rodeos for the meantime but not for a lifetime. I plan on getting a master’s degree so school will take over when that time comes, but for now I can handle both,” she said.

She Rides at 3:09 in the video below:

10" Brocken Water Main

It took me a while to get home today because the street was completely flooded at the neighborhood entrance. We will probably be without water for 24+ hrs. as a result of a 10" water pipe busting as a City of Atlanta contractor attempted to install a valve (which is soooo ironic because it took them FOREVER to finally shut the water off so people could enter/exit the neighborhood. The water system infrastructure of Atlanta is over 100 years old, hence the delay in shutting off the water).

Of course I had to take some pics...

Every local news station was covering the story.
(they even sent the helicopters out)

My man above deserves a promotion.
He was standing in 12" of water and mud (while it was raining) so he could give this interview.

Michael Vick Bought a Mercedes-Benz to Drive Himself to Prison

Fist of all....it's some bs that my man Vick is locked up over some freakin' dogs.
(when you have another player convicted of a DUI vehicular homicide
getting a 4 game NFL suspension)

Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Vick spent $3.6 million in a three month period between entering his guilty plea and submitting to federal custody.
(Now that's what I call an economic stimulus - the American people and gov't should be thanking him).

On Nov. 19, Vick went to a car showroom in Hampton, Va (Big up Hamton U. - My sis. graduated from there). He picked out an andorite-gray 2008 Mercedes-Benz S550 sedan and, using his bank debit card, paid in full: $99,589.71.
(knowing he was going to file for bankruptcy)

(Can you blame the man?... F 'em)

Then he drove to Richmond,
surrendered to federal marshals and went to jail.

Aiden's Baptism

There is one body,
and one Spirit,
even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one BAPTISM,
One God and Father of all,
who is above all,
and through all,
and in you all.
