Ethel Ennis - Change

Often I find that most of the music in my car is inappropriate for my boys to listen to.  Not to mention my personal music, I really don't like the main radio stations in Atlanta.  I'm often shocked and appalled at what is played to the public for all to more often than not, I turn to Clark Atlanta University's jazz station 91.9 when they're in the car.  Aiden loves it, since he really likes to hear different instruments (especially horns) it mellows me out (win-win).  I stumbled upon this song.  It's dedicated to change...dedicated to getting older and more mature....dedicated to my boys who are no longer babies.....dedicated to those who are no longer with us........dedicated to becoming wiser and appreciating what REALLY matters in life......the only constant in life is......change.

Day 2 of Chicago Teacher’s Strike

I think it’s very unfortunate that 400,000 Chicago kids are not getting an education for the 2nd day in a row because the teachers can’t come to terms about money.  I don’t think the teachers should be paid based on performance.   Teachers with consistently poor results should be further trained, suspended, fired or in some cases…nothing done at all.…NOT offered lower pay…  It takes two to tango.  Teachers are supposed to teach and students are supposed to learn.  Some student (for whatever reason) don’t learn and sometimes this has NOTHING to do with the teacher’s effort.  There are many factors that determine the performance of students in a classroom.  Teachers are a factor but not the only factor.

I understand the teacher’s position.  I don’t agree with the method of expressing their disagreement.  Teachers find a better way to push your propaganda.  You’re setting a bad example for our kids.  You’re not getting what you want so you’re not going to work.  Period.  Undebatable fact.  You went on strike not to improve the system’s scholastic environment (1 in 2 students graduate from HS.  6 in 100 get a college degree in 6 years or less after graduating from HS). They went on strike for the reason teachers always go on strike – for higher wages.

Right now, the kids are suffering, learning nothing and probably getting into all kinds of mischief while their parents are at work. An idle mind is the devil's playground.

FYI…these are NOT poor teachers.

The average Chicago Public School teacher earns $71,237.  The starting teacher salary is $53,725…and let’s not forget about your pension.  Yes, you deal with bad ass kids all day.  You also get the satisfaction of shaping and developing the minds of our future….you get three months of paid vacation every year (including summer and holidays)….and you can bump your salary up w/ a side hustle.  Coaches get up to an additional $6,000/year or baby sit kids (non-instructional) after school for $35.50/hour. Not to mention the elephant in the room; the Chicago school system has a $1 BILLION deficit.  You’ll need a pay cut, not a pay raise.

Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson’s Car

This is Chad’s car where the alleged head assault occurred.  The headbutt was obviously an accident.  Chad’s lawyers needs to submit a picture of his car as evidence.  The clown car is so small, he couldn’t help but headbutt her if he moved his head in any direction.

SN:  This is a “SMART” car…how ironic.

SN:  Can’t wait for the new Friday movie to come out.

This is one of my favorites….

I can’t take these boys anywhere…..

“Don’t talk about our Momma!”

“Noah get up.  He’s had enough.”

“Now smile & play like we didn’t just beat you up so you’re daddy doesn’t know.”

Noah:  Hold him bro! I’m coming to knock him out!

All out brawl.  Brothers against brothers.

He’s hittin’ like a girl.  Pretty Boy Noah’s throwin’ punches.

Bricks & Steel…

If a tree fell in the forest
And no one was around to hear it
Baby, does it go boom?
If I have love for ya
But you were never close enough to feel it
Is my love any good?

But the distance ain't even a room away
You're laying in the bed right next to me
But there might as well be a brick wall in between us
Some soundproof glass
And some bars in the middle
Oh baby, when I wanna talk to you
I'm conversing with bricks and steel
A pile of bricks and steel
And when I tap your shoulders
You're cold as bricks and steel
A pile of bricks and steel
And how do I stay in love with you
Ravish all the the leftovers and garbage
Was it ever real
If you were never here?

I know you're somewhere in there...
Sometimes I wanna pick up a hammer
And start chiseling away…

Frank Ocean

I didn’t really know much about Frank Ocean until him revealing his sexuality made news. I’m not really sure why this was such big news….he’s an R&B singer. It’s not like he’s some hardcore rapper. None the less, this dude is an amazing artist. I’m pretty much loving ALL the music he’s done. I’m feeling his mixtape and can’t wait to listen to his new album, “Channel Orange” which is about to drop. He’s going to be in Atlanta soon. I would love to take babe to see him in concert, but his show is at 9:30pm on a Sunday (unfortunately I don’t know anyone who would babysit that late on Sunday).

The beat (in the beginning) in the song below reminds me of one of my favorite songs, “Vibrate” by 3 Stacks. The lyrics tell an amazing story. He's pure artistic genius in his writing. A 10 minute song on an album. I love it.

I Don’t Wanna Teach ‘Em

We like to fuck hoes and sell dope
Shoot jump shots and run ball
Take white money and give it right back at the mall
Louis Vuitton, hate niggas
Gucci hate niggas,  Hilfiger been said fuck niggas
I admit that I wear that shit to
But black folks the first to yell fuck FUBU!

The Revolution will NOT be televised…It will be blogged.

They say love Jesus and listen to your pastor
But Jesus told the truth and the pastor's a lying bastard
All he talk about is economic elevation
And all Jesus talked about soul salvation
Jesus sat with the sick and He walked with the poor
If He gave blood for our sins, why we giving more?

Lupe: "Bitch bad, woman good, lady better...."

Now imagine there’s a shorty, maybe five maybe four
Ridin’ ’round with his mama listening to the radio
And a song comes on and not far from being born
Doesn't know the difference between right and wrong
Now I ain’t trying to make it too complex
But let’s just say shawty has an undeveloped context
About the perception of women these days
His mama sings along and this what she says
“Nigga, I’m a bad bitch, and I’m bad bitch
...far above average”
....he may skew RESPECT for DISHONOR
High heels, long hair, fat booty, slim
Reality check, I’m not trippin’
But she think she a bitch, what a DOUBLE ENTENDRE.

US-Israel Virus Attack on Iran

In addition to us dropping bombs, we also drop viruses.  This virus was disguised as a Microsoft update.

The United States and Israel jointly developed a sophisticated computer virus nicknamed Flame that collected intelligence in preparation for cyber-sabotage aimed at slowing Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon, according to Western officials with knowledge of the effort.

The massive piece of malware secretly mapped and monitored Iran’s computer networks, sending back a steady stream of intelligence to prepare for a cyberwarfare campaign.

Flame was designed to do all this while masquerading as a routine Microsoft software update; it evaded detection for several years by using a sophisticated program to crack an encryption algorithm.

Radio Rap Music

The ballot or the bullet, some freedom or some bullshit
Will we ever do it big, or keep just settling for little shit
We brag on having bread, but none of us are bakers
We all talk having greens, but none of us own acres
If none of us on acres, and none of us grow wheat
Then who will feed our people when our people need to eat
So it seems our people starve from lack of understanding
Cause all we seem to give them is some balling and some dancing
And some talking about our car and imaginary mansions
We should be indicted for bullshit we inciting
Hella children deaf and pretending it's exciting

praise in public - scold in private

This picture has gone viral on facebook (click on pic). A countless number of my fb friends have “shared” this photo and everyone has the same thing to say, “Excellent parenting mom!!” Me personally; I’m on the fence leaning towards the opposite. As a parent, naturally, we all want the best for our children.

On one hand:

This is humiliation. Egg on face for the WORLD to see and she appears to be crying. I firmly believe that you can discipline your child without humiliating them to the public. Albeit, I’m not the strictest parent in the world but geez… I don’t really know the details of the offense, but it could be worse….she could have been DRINKING the liquor in the picture (or smoking a blunt) but obviously she wasn’t. Was she consistently informed by her mother AND father (who have different but equally important roles) about her self-worth and the potential danger of drugs/alcohol in her life? Was this her first offense of “trying to be cool” by posing in a pic beside a “Patron” bottle? How old is she? 15, 16? How are her grades? I personally plan to let my sons have their first drink at 18. If they're old enough to be charged as an adult for a crime and old enough to die for this country in the military……then damn it, they’re old enough to have a drink (preferably in the comfort of their home with the supervision/guidance of their parents).

Considering I work in the technology industry, I understand & appreciate the power of social media. It’s been the catalyst of people being charged with federal crimes and arguably the deciding factor in the election of the President of the US, the most powerful person on the earth. This mother chose to post this humiliating ‘picture/long ass caption’ on Facebook…..which in turn spread like a virus. ANYONE who sees this child (school friends, teachers, parents, ect…), I suspect, their first thought will be this photo. This could potentially damage her in more ways than one and that’s not cool.

On the other hand:

I realize that alcohol can potentially be a SERIOUS problem especially at a young age. As a parent, I understand that you should do everything possible to insure that your children succeed. You don’t want your child posting pics on Instagram one day and next getting a D.U.I. that will follow them until death (or even worse, getting into a car accident because they think being slizzered and driving is cool). Nip that shit in the bud. Maybe you warned your child over and over and did this as a last result to save their life? Maybe not.

You obviously care. The question is…..”Is this best for your child?”

SN: I consider myself a new parent (I have very little experience in parenting), so all this is new to me and I’m still learning and trying to evolve to be the best parent I can be.
